A fire that started in a bakery engulfed and destroyed much of London, including St. Paul's Cathedral, on September 1. Many historical events occurred on September 1 and are recapped by Russ Mitchell in this video clip from This Day In History. A US French expedition claimed they found the wreck of the Titanic, and the first ATM was used by the public on this day as well.
